The route
Your route.Our rules.

The rules
- 01
Only where pedestrians may go
You run on paths, pavements and roads open to pedestrians. Traffic rules apply as on any other day.
- 02
Red zones
Motorways, expressways, the Gotthard road tunnel and every tunnel or section closed to pedestrians are forbidden. We publish the list before the event.
- 03
One vehicle per team
Stop only where it's allowed and safe. No escorting at walking pace on the carriageway.
- 04
GPS for everyone
Every team runs with an official tracker. The line is checked after the finish.
- 05
Checkpoints if needed
If authorities or safety require fixed passages, we build them in. Between them, the choice stays yours.
- 06
Weather and the pass
If the Gotthard Pass is closed or the weather is dangerous, we neutralise the section. Nobody improvises through a tunnel.
- 07
Visible at night
Headlamp, rear light and hi-vis vest are mandatory from dusk.
- 08
Stopping is allowed
Anyone who can't go on gets in the car. Anyone who quits tells race control.
These rules are a draft. The final version is written with the cantons, the police and our insurer.
One possible line
An example, not a checked route: from the northernmost point in canton Schaffhausen via Zürich, Zug, Altdorf and the Gotthard to the southernmost point in Chiasso. 354 km, 3,850 m of climbing. Whether every section is open to pedestrians we check with the authorities. Your line may look different — as long as it's legal.
